Meet Pixie - Chinese Crested

Posted on March 8, 2010

Pixie here gets her very own post because she’s in a category of her own - awesomeness! Not an IG, not a herder, but a very cool hairless Chinese Crested. I think she’s the first Crested I’ve photographed, but hopefully not the last, because she was SO MUCH FUN. Seriously, this girl oozes personality and spunk…I just *love* her and her rock-star hair!

A big thank you again, Kathryn, for allowing me the opportunity to meet and photograph your crazy awesome beautiful family!

Natural Awakenings Pet Launch Party

Posted on March 4, 2010

The area’s newest magazine for pets is launching this Friday and there’s going to be a PARTY! Natural Awakenings Pet is a magazine dedicated entirely to natural and sustainable living for our furry companions. The event will take place this Friday, March 5 from 6-8 pm at Whole Foods Market in downtown Sarasota! There will be lots of fun activities including entertainment, a fashion show, food, games, and on-site pet adoptions. FUN!

I’m so excited that one of my photographs made the cover of the premiere edition! Check out this beautiful cover featuring my friend Karma, the Great Dane. I hear that Karma is going to be at the launch party signing pawtographs so be sure to stop by and say hi!

Boomer + Bounce

Posted on March 4, 2010

Are you starting to notice a trend here? First we had the IG’s Bella, Bailey, Brie, and Beau. And today we have Boomer and Bounce. Hmmm… :)

First up is Boomer, who seems to be a very laid back hunk of a guy, who isn’t in a big hurry to get anywhere and was more than happy to hang out and look pretty. He definitely gets the award for the most consistent model…the camera just *loves* him - such a handsome boy!

Bounce, on the other hand, lives on planet Bounce, and thought the idea of having a family portrait was rather ridiculous. To say that she even acknowledged my presence would be a stretch, but I still can’t help but to love her. She crazy, but in an awesome have-to-love kind of way. And it doesn’t hurt that she’s a beauty…even with her crazy long tongue!

Um, Bounce…how do you really feel? :)

Oh Bounce!

Meet the IGs!

Posted on March 1, 2010

Italian Greyhounds are such fun little dogs…despite their fragile appearance, these guys can really MOVE. It was hysterical to watch them run all over the place (along with a Border Collie, an Aussie, and a Chinese Crested). A very entertaining bunch!

First is MACH Bella - Proving that a princess can be an agility champion…

Then there’s MACH Bailey, whose eyes appear to be popping out of his head because he is obviously STARVING. His mom must never ever feed him. :)

And Brie, who seemed to be a little more on the shy side, but such a pretty girl.

And last but not least, Beau. And those *eyes* - gorgeous!

Meet Tristan | Tampa Portrait Photography

Posted on February 25, 2010

I find photographing kids very similar to photographing dogs…they are adorable, very entertaining, easily distractible, and highly motivated by treats. Not to mention, they can be a lot of fun! Tristan is one very cute three year old with a big personality and smile that is downright contagious. I dare you to take a look at this first image and not smile!

Party of Ten!

Posted on February 24, 2010

I’ve photographed a lot of family portraits over the years, but I’m pretty sure I set a personal record this past weekend with two adults, one (very adorable) three year old, and seven dogs. Did you happen to catch that last part? SEVEN dogs!

Meet the Clark family…and are they not one of the best looking families EVER? Seriously, it’s almost too much cute for just one picture. :)

I’ll admit that “posed” portraits are not exactly my specialty, but I have to say that I had a lot of fun, and this was definitely of the most entertaining sessions I’ve ever had. I do think that LAUGHTER is the key…I’m so thankful these guys have a great sense of humor!

Of course I’ll be sharing more pictures of all the pups (including Tristan, the adorable two-legger) soon!

My Valentines

Posted on February 14, 2010

My three spotty valentines would like to wish all of our friends a very sweet Valentine’s Day!

Generally I’m not a big fan of using props in my photographs, but I do make an occasional exception when I come across cute items around the holidays. And since my three dogs are all seasoned models, they generally don’t mind too much! Peyton gives his best “sad spotty dog” pose…

As usual, Indy was less than amused, but at least she loves me….I think.

And Pongo wonders whose brilliant idea it was to make candy hearts that *can’t* be eaten!

Valentine’s Day is Sunday!

Posted on February 11, 2010

I have to admit that I’ve never been a big fan of flowers and chocolates for Valentine’s Day. Flowers are pretty for a few days and then they start to wilt…and while chocolates are very yummy, I always feel like I need to spend the next few weeks working off all those calories! I know that it’s the thought that counts, but just as a friendly little reminder, Simply Spotted Photography offers gift certificates for any occasion. Guaranteed to provide memories that will last for a lifetime *and* 100% calorie free, custom portraits are a perfect gift for your pet loving Valentine!

Polo Ponies!

Posted on January 27, 2010

I thought I’d share a few more pictures from my afternoon at the Sarasota Polo Club. These really make me miss my horse days! I’ve never attempted polo, although we did have a college team when I was at Purdue. I read that the Polo Club offers lessons so maybe one of these days I’ll have to try it out, just for fun. Sadly though, I’m pretty sure my horse riding muscles are long gone…not to mention my apparent lack of coordination!

Clydesdales | Sarasota Polo Club

Posted on January 24, 2010

I had a great time at the first annual Woof Gang Bakery Cup at the Sarasota Polo Club this afternoon. I can’t believe that after almost 6 years of living in Sarasota, I had never been to a polo match! Since I was very busy judging the Woof Gang Bakery contests, I didn’t get a chance to watch much of the action on the field, but will definitely have to make a trip back!

There were so many cool dogs who came out for this event - we had such a hard time judging. Congratulations to all of the winners! I’ll be posting more pictures soon, but thought I’d start with these beauties - the Lake Run Farm Clydesdales.
