Pet Portrait Day at Holistic for Pets
Posted on November 4, 2009
I’m excited to announce that Simply Spotted Photography will be having a pet portrait day this month at Holistic for Pets’ Bradenton location! I’ll be offering mini studio sessions from 10 am – 5 pm on Monday, November 23. And the best part? These sessions are only $20, plus I’ll be donating $5 for every session back to Southwest Florida Great Dane Rescue! This is a great opportunity to have your pet’s portrait taken and help out a great rescue organization in the process. Each session includes a 5×7 print, and additional print sizes will also be available. Just in time for the holidays!
Space is limited so be sure to reserve your spot today! You can either contact me directly or sign up at Holistic for Pets’ Bradenton location in the Sweetbay shopping plaza off I-70 in Lakewood Ranch. For directions and more information about Holistic for Pets, please visit their website.
Speaking of the holidays, there is still time to schedule a custom, on-location session for guaranteed print delivery in time for Christmas. I currently have weekday and a few weekend sessions remaining. Or, if you would prefer to give a session as a gift, I do offer gift certificates and I’d love to help you design the perfect package for your pet-loving friends and family. Please contact me for more information.
I’m really looking forward to a fun day at Holistic For Pets on November 23 – please feel free to call or e-mail me with any questions, or to reserve your spot. Hope to see you and your furry ones there!

Mackey – In Memory
Posted on November 2, 2009
It is with a heavy heart that I share the news of sweet Mackey’s passing following a long battle with cancer. I met Mackey during my trip to Indiana this summer and if you missed his story and pictures from our session, you can find them both here.
As a pet photographer, I am so fortunate that I get to meet a lot of wonderful dogs and have the chance to spend some time with them and capture their unique personalities. While I have fond memories of each dog I photograph, and each is very special in their own way, there are some dogs that really manage to pull on my heart strings. Mackey was definitely one of these dogs – even though we had never met, I felt like somehow he understood why I was there and just how important his photographs would be to his family. He was a star.
My heart goes out to Mackey’s mom, but I am grateful that I had the chance to meet him and see what a special dog he was. I know that only time will heal her heart, but I’m so glad that I was able to give her images that will help to forever keep his memory alive.
Goodbye, sweet Mackey.

Tribute To A Best Friend
Sunlight streams through window pane
unto a spot on the floor….
then I remember,
it’s where you used to lie,
but now you are no more.
Our feet walk down a hall of carpet,
and muted echoes sound….
then I remember,
It’s where your paws would joyously abound.
A voice is heard along the road,
and up beyond the hill,
then I remember it can’t be yours….
your golden voice is still.
But I’ll take that vacant spot of floor
and empty muted hall
and lay them with the absent voice
and unused dish along the wall.
I’ll wrap these treasured memorials
in a blanket of my love
and keep them for my best friend
until we meet above.
