Tessa is 12 1/2 years old young and is sweet, beautiful, and has such a wonderful personality. I just love her dark brown eyes and the little bit of pigment missing around her mouth that makes it look like she’s sticking her tongue out! Such a pretty, pretty girl.
Unfortunately Tessa was recently diagnosed with advanced bone cancer. I so wish that I had more appropriate words, but all I can say is…CANCER SUCKS. It’s just heartbreaking to see dogs like Tessa struggle with such a devastating disease. She was such a trooper during our session though, and was more than happy to hang out and show off some of her tricks (she has a *great* howl). Thank you Tessa, for putting up with me even though I know you’re not a big fan of the camera…what a good girl!
One thing is clear – Tessa loves her mom, and her mom loves her. Cheryl, thank you so much for inviting me into your home and letting me capture your sweet girl…I’ll be thinking of you both.

Earlier this year I had the pleasure of photographing Angelica’s entire canine crew – they were a really fun bunch! Well, this past weekend I headed back up to Tampa and this time I got to play with some of their friends and fellow students at Courteous Canine. Even though it was HOT (welcome to summer in Florida!) everyone seemed to have a great time. With several outdoor areas for agility, an indoor (air conditioned) training building, and a DOCK JUMPING POOL, what more could a dog possibly want!?
Suzi would like for me to get out of her way, thank you very much.
You may remember Keegan, the red Border Collie I photographed last December. Not only is he gorgeous, but he’s also incredibly athletic and I might even use the word “graceful” when I watch him on the agility course. Now Keegan, you know I adore you, and please don’t take this the wrong way…but I’m not sure you’re going to score any style points in the sport of dock jumping. But you’re still absolutely adorkable!
Perhaps Rumble can give you some pointers?
These were just a few of the pups who came out to play…hopefully I can share some more soon!
Last, but certainly not least – meet Power! He is Angelica’s new Border Collie pup and he is SO STINKIN’ CUTE!! Angelica is going to have so much fun with this little guy…that is unless he *accidently* makes his way over to my house when she’s not looking. I seem to have a never ending case of puppy fever, and Power is not helping it ONE. LITTLE. BIT.
Thanks again Angelica and friends for having me out to photograph your pups…you all did great! (And yes, even Keegan…who I’m guessing is not happy about me posting that photo and is now planning his revenge.)

As promised, here are a few more images of my favorite Vero Beach duo, Tulip and Mikey. I know I’ve said it quite a few times, but I just love these two! I had a hard time picking out a few favorites to share because there are just too many – these guys are the such good little models. And so, so smart!
A big thank you to Tulip and Mikey’s parents for the great hospitality…we had such a fun time in Vero!

One month ago today I lost my best friend. It doesn’t seem possible that it’s been a whole month…it seems like just yesterday I held him in my arms while he took his last breath. Where does the time go?
Since Pongo’s passing, I’ve been working on a few special photography projects. When he first started having health problems early last fall, I found it difficult to do much with any of his images. I just couldn’t look at them without thinking that they might be some of the last photographs that I would ever have of him…and at the time, that was not something that I wanted to accept.
But now that he’s gone, I just can’t stop looking at his photographs. It’s not that I need a picture to help me remember him, but every image sparks a memory of our time together. Ah, the power of photography. It’s been so therapeutic to finally be able to go back and work on some of his images from the past several months.
I hope to share some of my projects soon, but in the meantime I thought I’d share some photos from Pongo’s trip to Venice dog beach last November. Pongo absolutely *loved* the beach…I remember he used to make the strangest noises on the car ride there – I think it was a cross between a whine/cry/moan, and it made us laugh every time! This was our last trip to the beach together and I’m so glad that I have these images to help remember such a happy time.
Love and miss you Pongo!

You might remember my good friends Tulip and Mikey from Vero Beach. They made their first appearance here in the fall, and I had the pleasure of photographing them again this past weekend. I just can’t get enough of these two…they are so much fun! I’m still trying to get caught up from my little trip over to the east coast, but I couldn’t resist posting a quick picture. More coming soon!

Gandalf is a Newfoundland - a sweet and beautiful boy who at just two years old, is dying from bone cancer. I can’t imagine what his family is going through…we are never given enough time with our beloved companions, but to face a loss at such a young age is incomprehensible. And needless to say, every single moment is precious.
In the short amount of time I spent with them, one thing is clear…there’s definitely no shortage of love in this family. And to see the way Gandalf looked at them…it was so very special.
Gandalf has a big brother named Sirius, who is six years old. I fell in love with his big soulful eyes…such a very sweet boy.
My heart aches for Gandalf and his family, but I hope that their images will bring smiles and comfort in the days to come. Now, my friends, go hug your pups…and remember that every day is a gift.

The 4th annual Paws in Motion Walk-a-thon to benefit the Manatee County Humane Society was held this morning at the Riverfront in Downtown Bradenton. As always, it was a great event and I love the new location! Lot’s of doggies in attendance this year and even though it was warm, there was plenty of shade. Each year my dog training club, Sarasota Obedience Training Club (SOTC), has a booth and offers agility demonstrations. So while Indy showed off her skills on the course, I snapped a few pictures…
And finally, here’s one very tired spotty dog – Indy loves going to events like these because everyone feeds her lots of yummy treats!
Even if you weren’t able to attend this year’s walk-a-thon, you can still show your support by making a little donation to the Humane Society of Manatee County. Click here to visit them online!

Kali is such a sweet girl. I imagine that living with two rowdy boys can be a challenge, but don’t feel too bad for her – she can hold her own! Doesn’t she have the sweetest face? And of course, pink is the perfect color for her…she’s most definitely a princess!
Kobe seems to be the clown of the family. He took advantage of our off-leash time outdoors to do several rounds of full speed zoomies. And wow, can he fly! He’s such a handsome boy and I love-love his little toothy smile.
Kase is the newest addition to the Woof Gang family and while there was a little concern that he might not want to participate in our photography game, he did great. In fact, I think he could easily have a career as a doggie model!
Don’t these guys have the coolest matching collars? Just a guess, but I bet you can find them at Woof Gang Bakery.
