Meet Pixie - Chinese Crested

Pixie here gets her very own post because she’s in a category of her own - awesomeness! Not an IG, not a herder, but a very cool hairless Chinese Crested. I think she’s the first Crested I’ve photographed, but hopefully not the last, because she was SO MUCH FUN. Seriously, this girl oozes personality and spunk…I just *love* her and her rock-star hair!

Boomer + Bounce

Are you starting to notice a trend here? First we had the IG’s Bella, Bailey, Brie, and Beau. And today we have Boomer and Bounce. Hmmm…

First up is Boomer, who seems to be a very laid back hunk of a guy, who isn’t in a big hurry to get anywhere and was more than happy to hang out and look pretty. He definitely gets the award for the most consistent model…the camera just *loves* him - such a handsome boy!

Bounce, on the other hand, lives on planet Bounce, and thought the idea of having a family portrait was rather ridiculous. To say that she even acknowledged my presence would be a stretch, but I still can’t help but to love her. She crazy, but in an awesome have-to-love kind of way. And it doesn’t hurt that she’s a beauty…even with her crazy long tongue!

Meet the IGs!

Italian Greyhounds are such fun little dogs…despite their fragile appearance, these guys can really MOVE. It was hysterical to watch them run all over the place (along with a Border Collie, an Aussie, and a Chinese Crested). A very entertaining bunch!

First is MACH Bella - Proving that a princess can be an agility champion…

Then there’s MACH Bailey, whose eyes appear to be popping out of his head because he is obviously STARVING. His mom must never ever feed him.

And Brie, who seemed to be a little more on the shy side, but such a pretty girl.

And last but not least, Beau. And those *eyes* - gorgeous!

Meet TicTac

TicTac is the youngest of the bunch (I think he’s 2) and so it’s understandable why he reminds me of a somewhat awkward teenager. (No offense to TicTac or teenagers - I think we’ve all probably been there!) It was so funny to watch him interact with the other dogs, and most of the time he could be found hanging out in the background (you know, like the really cool teens do). But despite the awkwardness, TicTac is a really sweet, handsome boy who just adores people. Here are a few of my favorites…

I love all of Angelica’s dogs, but there’s just something about Stevie that pulls on my heartstrings. Perhaps it’s his mad frisbee pouncing talent, or his extremely sweet and soulful eyes, or maybe it’s his *the world is mine!* attitude…I don’t know, but I could have easily taken him home (hey, he *does* have spots!). I’m having the hardest time picking favorites from this session, but here are just a few of my Stevie favs!

Meet Zoomie!

Since I train and compete in agility, I get to watch a lot of Border Collies and I have a ton of respect for their intelligence and athleticism on an agility course. But to see a group of them interact with each other at home - it’s downright entertaining. All of the circling…and stalking…I think I could probably watch them for hours without getting bored! Out of Angelica’s three Border Collie boys, I think Zoomie was probably the least interested in my presence. It’s not that he isn’t sweet or friendly, but he only had eyes for one thing - the FRISBEE.

Even though I couldn’t compete with the *frisbee*, I still love Zoomie. He’s such a cool dog and I especially enjoyed watching him and his mom show off one of their tricks - I think it’s officially called the “dog stall”? There’s no way I could do this trick with one of my dogs unless I wanted a broken back (or face!) so I was very impressed!

Here’s Zoomie…oh and TicTac (the tourist) makes another guest appearance!

Meet Bella - Papillon

I’m guessing that it probably takes a special dog to live in a household with three Border Collie boys, and Bella is certainly a special girl. Appropriately nicknamed “Master of the Universe”, Bella has tons of attitude and personality! Like many other Papillons I’ve met, she’s really a great big dog disguised in a tiny, adorable package. Fierce and ferocious, yet very sweet, Bella is such a neat dog and I really enjoyed capturing her playful personality.

Bella’s mom Angelica owns Courteous Canine Inc., a dog training school in the Tampa area that uses only positive training methods. They offer a wide range of classes from obedience to agility, and recently added Florida’s first dock jumping pool and and dog dock training program! Not only have I taken a class from them, but I also know several of the instructors personally and I can honestly say that they are a great group. So if you live in the Tampa Bay area and are looking for a great place to train your dogs (or cats), be sure to check them out!

Border Collies are slowly taking over my blog…and I love it! Yesterday afternoon I had the pleasure of hanging out with three Border Collies and a Papillon. To say that I had a really fun time would be an understatement! Seriously, these guys were all great to photograph, and I can only imagine the endless entertainment that they provide. Fun times! I’ve got a lot of  favorites, but here are just a few…more coming soon!

First up is TicTac…

Stevie…I just love this guy!

And last, but certainly not least, Bella. This girl has TONS of personality and clearly holds her own in a group of silly Border Collie boys!

Payback for Peyton

Let this be a warning for cute little spotty dogs that decide to steal my Colt’s hat and parade around the house with it…

If you want to play with my hat, that’s okay, but it’s going to end up on your head. And, of course, that means I’ll have to take pictures.

Poor Peyton. Lucky for him, he’s extremely cute (and very charming) - I’ve never met a Dalmatian that didn’t use both of those traits to their advantage! I will say, no matter how many thousands of pictures I take of Peyton, I will never tire of his expressions. I’m so lucky to have such fun and animated dogs - they are such a great source of inspiration for my work.

She might not have spots, but she’s still a part of the Simply Spotted family! Meet Lucy, a miniature Dachshund owned and loved by my parents (and loved by me too, of course). Even though I’ve taken many pictures of Lucy over the years, I  don’t think she ever read the memo that says if you’re going to be related to a pet photographer, you need to love the camera! I think she finds my big camera a little intimidating, but she still manages to take some really cute pictures. I just love her expressions! Here are a few studio portraits I took over the holidays of my favorite little hot dog…
