Meet Tulip
Posted on November 19, 2009
Tulip might be tiny, but she’s got big personality! Not only is this little Papillon girl very cute and very sweet, but she also happens to be one of the most talented little dogs I have ever met. Her mom is an awesome clicker trainer and both Tulip and Mikey know more tricks than I can count. They are also learning agility and freestyle dancing - a very talented (and young) pair, that’s for certain!
I’ll be posting some more pictures of Mikey soon, but in the meantime please enjoy a few of my favorites of Tulip. I’m absolutely in *love* with her itty-bitty teeth in the first shot - isn’t she just adorable!?

Vero Beach Sneak Peek
Posted on November 16, 2009
I spent this past weekend in beautiful Vero Beach where I met two very delightful young pups. Mikey is a miniature dachshund and Tulip is a Papillon - they were both full of personality and a pleasure to photograph! I had a really great time watching them play, romp on the beach, and show off all of their amazing tricks. I’ll be posting more pictures of these two soon, but in the meantime, here’s a little peek!

Lacey + Rae
Posted on November 9, 2009
Meet Lacey and Rae, two of my very cute Brittany friends from SOTC. They are both really good girls, although I have to say Lacey is just a wee bit of a camera hog. At 9 months of age, she’s still very much a puppy and thinks that all attention should be on her, all of the time! And not that I can blame her - it’s really not her fault that she’s so adorable and completely irresistible! Rae is a beauty too (when she wasn’t giving me the most pathetic pouty faces) and together, I think they make a great pair.

Oliver - Bichon | Sarasota Pet Photography
Posted on November 5, 2009
I met Oliver the Bichon yesterday, and this little guy was so much fun! He’s only 7 months old, but already very confident, well mannered, and just extremely cute. He was such a natural in front of the camera, although being such a good model must have been really hard work as he almost fell asleep on me a few times. I don’t think I’ve ever had that happen before - I didn’t realize I was *that* boring!
Anyway, we had a great time and I’m in love so many images from his session! Here are just a few of my favorites…

I had to save my very favorite for last - I think little Oliver might just be laughing at me here…

I’m excited to announce that Simply Spotted Photography will be having a pet portrait day this month at Holistic for Pets’ Bradenton location! I’ll be offering mini studio sessions from 10 am - 5 pm on Monday, November 23. And the best part? These sessions are only $20, plus I’ll be donating $5 for every session back to Southwest Florida Great Dane Rescue! This is a great opportunity to have your pet’s portrait taken and help out a great rescue organization in the process. Each session includes a 5×7 print, and additional print sizes will also be available. Just in time for the holidays!
Space is limited so be sure to reserve your spot today! You can either contact me directly or sign up at Holistic for Pets’ Bradenton location in the Sweetbay shopping plaza off I-70 in Lakewood Ranch. For directions and more information about Holistic for Pets, please visit their website.
Speaking of the holidays, there is still time to schedule a custom, on-location session for guaranteed print delivery in time for Christmas. I currently have weekday and a few weekend sessions remaining. Or, if you would prefer to give a session as a gift, I do offer gift certificates and I’d love to help you design the perfect package for your pet-loving friends and family. Mackey - In Memory
Posted on November 2, 2009
It is with a heavy heart that I share the news of sweet Mackey’s passing following a long battle with cancer. I met Mackey during my trip to Indiana this summer and if you missed his story and pictures from our session, you can find them both here.
As a pet photographer, I am so fortunate that I get to meet a lot of wonderful dogs and have the chance to spend some time with them and capture their unique personalities. While I have fond memories of each dog I photograph, and each is very special in their own way, there are some dogs that really manage to pull on my heart strings. Mackey was definitely one of these dogs - even though we had never met, I felt like somehow he understood why I was there and just how important his photographs would be to his family. He was a star.
My heart goes out to Mackey’s mom, but I am grateful that I had the chance to meet him and see what a special dog he was. I know that only time will heal her heart, but I’m so glad that I was able to give her images that will help to forever keep his memory alive.
Goodbye, sweet Mackey.

Tribute To A Best Friend
Sunlight streams through window pane
unto a spot on the floor….
then I remember,
it’s where you used to lie,
but now you are no more.
Our feet walk down a hall of carpet,
and muted echoes sound….
then I remember,
It’s where your paws would joyously abound.
A voice is heard along the road,
and up beyond the hill,
then I remember it can’t be yours….
your golden voice is still.
But I’ll take that vacant spot of floor
and empty muted hall
and lay them with the absent voice
and unused dish along the wall.
I’ll wrap these treasured memorials
in a blanket of my love
and keep them for my best friend
until we meet above.

Pet Extravaganza Portrait Preview
Posted on October 18, 2009
The 2009 Pet Extravaganza was a success! It was such a fun day and I’m so glad that I had the opportunity to meet so many nice people and their pups. A special thanks to The GulfCoast DOG Magazine for all of their hard work, and for bringing the Florida pet loving community together for a great event!
Here’s a little preview of some of the portraits I took at the event - more coming soon!

I just had to include another shot of Owen, because he reminds me of a cartoon character - so animated!

Brodie the Boxer
Posted on October 16, 2009
Yesterday I had a little session with Brodie the Boxer! Brodie’s mom is looking for a good head shot to match a picture I did for her last year of her Boxer Brahma. When it comes to people, Brodie is a little shy - actually fearful is a better word. But that’s okay - having a fearful dog myself, I can relate! And if anything, it’s given me a lot of helpful experience when it comes to photographing dogs who would rather not be my best friend.
Despite not wanting anything to do with me or my camera, we still got some really nice shots. Brodie is a very handsome guy, and proof that even shy dogs can shine in front of the camera!

And finally, here’s a shot of Brodie’s brother Brahma, who was waiting patiently in the car…
