Kai + Paka + Poki | Lab Friends
Posted on April 1, 2011
Last week I had the pleasure of photographing a big ‘ol (extended) family of Labs. Labs = fun. Labs + purple door = SO MUCH FUN!
First up is Kai Lekos, a very handsome guy! Around here he’s known as MACH4 Kai (that’s 4 time Master Agility Champion to my non-agility friends). He’s a sweetie…love that lab drool. : )
Next up is Poki, and if I’m remembering correctly, she was found and rescued after Hurricane Charlie. She’s a bit of a fearful girl, but she photographs *brilliantly*. There’s just something about her…I’ve worked with many, many dogs over the years, but very few have eyes that seem to tell a story quite like hers do. Beautiful.
And last, but most certainly not least, is Paka Lolo! I love this girl – she’s also an agility champion and I remember meeting her a few years ago at a trial when she was obsessively trying to stick her nose in my armpits! Apparently she likes deodorant. : )
That’s it for part 1 of the lab tales – check back soon for part 2!

Meet Eva | Adopt Me!
Posted on March 25, 2011
My new friend Eva is looking for her forever home! She is one of the sweetest little labs I’ve met and I know she’s going to be an awesome companion to some very lucky person. I could say all kinds of nice things about her, but I’ll let her do the talking (translated by her foster mom, of course)…
“Hi, I’m Eva, a three-year old Labrador Retriever with a BIG heart but only half a tail. As I am a very happy lab, my half-tail is always wagging. I am very sweet and affectionate. I walk nicely on lead, have basic obedience training, and am becoming very good at agility. I love car rides and am very well behaved. I have perfect house manners and am very devoted to the people around me. While I love children and other dogs, I have been known to steal their toys and then I keep the toys for myself – so it is best that I not be around other dogs and children.”
“I am a small lab (45 lbs), have been spayed, up-to-date on my vaccinations, and am on monthly heartworm preventative.”
If you would like to find out more about me and/or make an appointment to meet me, please call my foster mom, Hera, at 941-922-5704 or send her an e-mail to OceanWolfAgility@comcast.net.
Thanks, Eva, for being such a sweetie…I hope you find your forever home very soon!

Party of Four | Downtown Dogs!
Posted on March 4, 2011
I really enjoy working with multiple dogs during a session, and when they are different breeds, it’s a plus! I have to say that this group was probably one of the more diverse that I’ve worked with, but I love how perfectly they complement each other. Such a fun bunch!
First up, a group shot – minus my friend Harry, who was likely attached to my leg at the time. Small dogs unite!
Timmy is a Chihuahua (mix?) and his expressions crack. me. up. They range from soft and sweet to…hmm, I think this first image says it best.
Yikes.
Andy is a Chinese Crested and is also quite the character…I think he might be one of those serious actor/model types who wants to be known for more than just his rockstar hair. : )
Oliver, a Brussels Griffon, was the shy one in the group. I get the impression that he was silently laughing at me in these shots…what a face!
And last, but certainly not least, is Harry! He’s also a Brussels and is such a sweet, sweet little guy. While the others were busy running around doing their thing, Harry could be found right by my side.
“Oh hi! Cookies for me? Yes, please!”
Harry has a cleft lip (also known as a harelip) which does give him a funny little smile, but also makes him extra special. Did I mention how sweet he is?
I had such a nice time hanging out with these guys; thank you “S” family for a lovely session!

Buster + Barclay | Min Pins!
Posted on January 29, 2011
“Fearless animation, complete self-possession, and spirited presence” – that would be a Miniature Pincher, according to the breed standard. With BIG personalities, these guys clearly didn’t get the memo that they are “small” dogs!
I’ve always been found of Min Pins and so I was super excited to meet up with Buster and Barclay last week in Lakewood Ranch, one of my favorite local communities. These guys were a TON of fun! In addition to being very handsome and most definitely “spirited”, these two are also rising agility stars. They might not be famous *yet*, but one of these days…
Buster is 6 years young I’d have to say that he’s the sweet one. Not that he isn’t capable off showing a little attitude, of course, but it’s a little hard to take this face very seriously. *SO* sweet.
Barclay, on the other hand, SCREAMS “fearless animation” loud and clear. But here’s a little secret – he’s not as tough as he would like you to believe. Don’t tell him I told you!
It only took a few hours of walking around the woods and playing in the paw park, but look! A happy, semi-relaxed, smiling Barclay. He’s probably going to be really mad that I’m sharing this one – it totally ruins his tough boy persona!
A big thank you to Buster and Barclay (and their assistants) for a great session!

Toby + Duke | Equine Photography
Posted on January 11, 2011
I hope everyone’s year is off to a great start! These past few months have been a blur, but now that the holidays are over, I’m ready to take on 2011! I have lots of exciting plans for this year, but before I leave 2010 completely behind, I still have a few more images to share.
I had a family session back in early December and I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect shoot – a lovely family, beautiful setting, gorgeous light, and *horses*! Even though our primary goal was photographs for the family Christmas card, I couldn’t resist sneaking in a few shots of just these two. I have to add that I was warned in advance that they would most likely *not* cooperate, but not only did they cooperate, they were absolutely perfect models!
I believe that’s Toby on the left and Duke on the right…
Such a fun session! Stay turned for more fun from *last* year (I’m still getting used to saying that!).

Goodbye 2010; hello 2011!
What an amazing year it was; thank you to everyone who helped make 2010 such a memorable year for Simply Spotted Photography. It’s been an absolute pleasure to meet and photograph so many wonderful pets and people over the past year, and I’m looking forward to meeting many more new friends in 2011!
To kick off the new year, I thought I would share a few images of my Derby pup. He’s 16 weeks now and growing up much too fast!
Happy New Year!

Fetch. Fur. Love.
Posted on December 15, 2010
Wow, believe it or not, Christmas is only 10 days away! My three little spotted elves and I have been so busy with holiday orders that we’re still (very) behind on blogging, but I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who came out to our recent holiday portrait event at Fetch. Fur. Love in Tampa. I had a wonderful time and met so many awesome pups (and awesome people too)!
Fetch. Fur. Love. is an fabulous little pet boutique located on South Howard Avenue in Tampa. The owner, Rickena, is all kinds of awesome (yes, I’m very much abusing that word today), and she offers a lot of fun and unique items that you won’t find in any of those big-box pet stores. If you’re in the area, be sure to stop by and take a little look around! For directions, click here to visit out her website.
Not only is she super nice, but she’s also gorgeous. And her little pup, Brooks, is pretty darn handsome too!
Thanks again, Rickena and friends, for a wonderful day – I can’t wait to come back and see y’all again!

Simply Spotted’s New Addition
Posted on November 19, 2010
It’s been sooooo busy around here lately – I just realized that I haven’t introduced the newest addition to the Simply Spotted Photography team! You might recognize this little guy from a puppy session I had last month – he is now known as “Derby” and he is exactly 10 weeks old today.
Derby – 5 weeks
Derby – 8 weeks
Derby – 9 weeks
I’m sure you’ll be seeing lots more of this little guy – although he won’t be little for long! He’s such an awesome pup and we’re having so much fun with him!

Ollie + Puddy + Georgie
Posted on November 19, 2010
Meet Ollie & his best kitty friend Puddy (aka Pud). Ollie was originally an “island dog”, St. Thomas to be exact, and is now the most popular kid in his neighborhood. He’s most definitely a ladies’ man and has one of the *best* crooked toothy smiles I’ve ever seen! He shares his kingdom with Pud (one cool cat!), and together they make one very dynamic duo.
I can totally picture Ollie wearing a leather biker jacket and shades – what a hunk!
We were joined by young Georgie Girl (just one of Ollie’s girlfriends) and I think she might have been a little worried that I was there to steal her boyfriend – she was not a happy camper at first, but did warm up a little. Even though she’s a pretty girl, she’s definitely not a girly-girl…Georgie likes to get down and dirty! She’s full of spunk and will hopefully start agility training soon – I think she’s going to be a natural!
A big thank you to Ollie, Pud, and Georgie for a great morning session!

Meet Herbie
Posted on November 7, 2010
Meet one of my newest friends, Herbie. He’s a nine year (young) lab mix, who looks 99.9% lab to me – although he is a *really* big guy! Unfortunately Herbie has been recently diagnosed with bone cancer, but clearly no one has told him – he’s happy as can be! Other than a slight limp, he looks great and has that wonderful Lab smile (and some goofy faces) that’s totally contagious. Well, contagious to everyone except his one year old human Josh, who was not exactly impressed with our photo session. But that’s okay; Josh is still a cutie and we did manage to find a few smiles near the end!
I hope Herbie has many happy, smiling days ahead. Thank you Leslie and Kelley, for giving me the chance to meet your awesome boy.
