Frequently Asked Questions

How do you get pets to pose?
I don’t! Generally I avoid posing - I prefer to photograph them in the most natural way possible, as they interact with me, their “parents”, and the environment. I feel this documentary approach is the very best way to maintain their comfort and in turn, it really allows their personalities to shine!

My dog is very…shy/hyper/nervous/wary of strangers (fill in the blank) - can you still photograph them?
Absolutely! One of the benefits of many years of training dogs, is that I’m very comfortable working with and around them. Some of my very favorite images are of dogs that were initially very fearful of me! Your dog’s comfort is my top priority, and I’ll do my very best to work through any issues they might have.

But there’s no way that my dog will hold still long enough for you to take pictures!
Perfect! High-energy dogs make for some really fun pictures!

My backyard is small and not very pretty - do you photograph in other locations?
The short answer is yes, but before you discount your home as a potential location, please keep in mind that my focus is always going to be on your pet, not your landscaping. Trust me - with three large dogs, my backyard is not the “ideal” location, yet that’s where I take 95% of their pictures. However, one of the benefits of living in Florida is that there is no shortage of beautiful locations for photo sessions! We’re surrounded by beautiful parks and beaches, and I’m more than happy to travel to your location of choice.

Why dog photography?
Dogs, and pets in general, are just so real - there’s no telling a dog to “smile for the camera” or to “say cheese”. They are not capable of hiding their emotions, so what you end up capturing is both raw and very real. I absolutely love how different every dog is and being able to connect with them in a way that shows off just how unique they are. Most of all, dogs are just so much fun! I love the time that I get to spend with them and always look forward to good times and lots of laughter during my photography sessions.

Do you photograph other subjects?
Yes! While I specialize in pet photography, I enjoy photographing a variety of different subjects. If you like my style and would like to learn more about other portrait sessions available, please contact me.
