Wow, believe it or not, Christmas is only 10 days away! My three little spotted elves and I have been so busy with holiday orders that we’re still (very) behind on blogging, but I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who came out to our recent holiday portrait event at Fetch. Fur. Love in Tampa. I had a wonderful time and met so many awesome pups (and awesome people too)!
Fetch. Fur. Love. is an fabulous little pet boutique located on South Howard Avenue in Tampa. The owner, Rickena, is all kinds of awesome (yes, I’m very much abusing that word today), and she offers a lot of fun and unique items that you won’t find in any of those big-box pet stores. If you’re in the area, be sure to stop by and take a little look around! For directions, click here to visit out her website.
Not only is she super nice, but she’s also gorgeous. And her little pup, Brooks, is pretty darn handsome too!
Thanks again, Rickena and friends, for a wonderful day – I can’t wait to come back and see y’all again!
WOW – Is it just me, or did we lose a few weeks of October? I can’t believe it’s already Halloween!
Fortunately for my spotty dogs, my busy schedule has spared them the embarrassment of getting dressed up this year. However, I did get my Halloween pup fix earlier this week at the Halloween party and open house at Happy Dog Pet Salon in Sarasota. The event was big success and a lot of fun – I think I photographed 35 dogs (and a few families) in 2 1/2 hours…whew!
Thank you to all of the super cute pups (and kids!) who joined us – I’ve sent out images to everyone who attended so if you haven’t received your e-mail, please feel free to contact me. And, if you’re looking for an awesome groomer in the Sarasota area, I definitely recommend checking out Happy Dog Pet Salon – they have a brand new, super cute location on Sawyer (just off of Bee Ridge Road) and now offer small dog daycare.
In other news, I am waaaay behind on sharing some of my latest sessions here, but stay tuned as I have some really fun ones coming up! Also, my November calendar is almost full, so if you’ve been thinking about a session before the holidays, please contact me soon. I always try to be as accommodating as possible, but this is a super busy (and super fun) time of year!
A quick peek of Emerson and Elliott – I had the pleasure of meeting these two right before they made a big move to Southern Indiana!
I’ll admit that I have a hard time telling them apart, but I believe that Emerson is on the left and Elliott is on the right. And I think that’s Emerson sporting that great smile below. I hope their mom jumps in to correct me if I’m wrong! Thank you Susie, for having me over to photograph your boys…I hope you are all getting settled and your pups are enjoying their new home!
As promised, here are a few more images of my favorite Vero Beach duo, Tulip and Mikey. I know I’ve said it quite a few times, but I just love these two! I had a hard time picking out a few favorites to share because there are just too many – these guys are the such good little models. And so, so smart!
A big thank you to Tulip and Mikey’s parents for the great hospitality…we had such a fun time in Vero!
My three spotty valentines would like to wish all of our friends a very sweet Valentine’s Day!
Generally I’m not a big fan of using props in my photographs, but I do make an occasional exception when I come across cute items around the holidays. And since my three dogs are all seasoned models, they generally don’t mind too much! Peyton gives his best “sad spotty dog” pose…
As usual, Indy was less than amused, but at least she loves me….I think.
And Pongo wonders whose brilliant idea it was to make candy hearts that *can’t* be eaten!
Let this be a warning for cute little spotty dogs that decide to steal my Colt’s hat and parade around the house with it…
If you want to play with my hat, that’s okay, but it’s going to end up on your head. And, of course, that means I’ll have to take pictures.
Poor Peyton. Lucky for him, he’s extremely cute (and very charming) – I’ve never met a Dalmatian that didn’t use both of those traits to their advantage! I will say, no matter how many thousands of pictures I take of Peyton, I will never tire of his expressions. I’m so lucky to have such fun and animated dogs – they are such a great source of inspiration for my work.
She might not have spots, but she’s still a part of the Simply Spotted family! Meet Lucy, a miniature Dachshund owned and loved by my parents (and loved by me too, of course). Even though I’ve taken many pictures of Lucy over the years, I don’t think she ever read the memo that says if you’re going to be related to a pet photographer, you need to love the camera! I think she finds my big camera a little intimidating, but she still manages to take some really cute pictures. I just love her expressions! Here are a few studio portraits I took over the holidays of my favorite little hot dog…
We wish you all joy and happiness this holiday season!

I had a great time at the new Woof Gang Bakery in Ellenton this past weekend! The owners, Chris and Dana, are two of the nicest people you will ever meet – and even though their store has only been open for a few weeks, it’s clear that they already have a growing fan club. If you are looking for top quality pet foods, fun toys, and yummy treats, be sure to stop by and check them out! (Note, I highly recommend their soft and chewy pumpkin treats – my three spotty dogs give them two paws up.)
If you missed our recent pet portrait day at the Ellenton store, I’m going to be at the Woof Gang Bakery in Lakewood Ranch this Thursday, December 3rd from 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm for their monthly “yappy hour”. This is always a fun event which features wine tasting, appetizers, $5 nail trims, and portraits by yours truly! WGB is located in the Publix shopping plaza of University Parkway in Lakewood Ranch. Hope to see you there!
